If you’ve already explored this site you probably already know some things about me, Winston Cole. Yes, I do love taking cruise vacations; I am a travel consultant; and travelling is one of my favourite hobbies. But there’s much more that I’d like to share with you.

My love for the ocean began early. I was born in Sierra Leone (population approximately 6 million) on the West Coast of Africa. Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone, has some of the best beaches in the world!

As a child and young adult the ocean was very much apart of my life. I spent most of my Sunday afternoons playing sports or relaxing on these enchanting beaches. Even when I was in school I only had to look out the windows to reconnect to the Atlantic Ocean. I loved the beauty of this land and soaked up the atmosphere that sea life brings.

My father was a harbour master which means that he performed most of his daily duties onboard ships. This, combined with my love of the sea, was enough to convince me that I should be a sea captain. I reasoned that this would allow me to live on the sea and travel around the world!

As it turned out though, becoming a sea captain wasn’t as easy to pursue as I would have liked. Instead, I ended up studying Civil Engineering, eventually becoming a registered professional Civil Engineer. I’ve been involved in a variety of projects from road construction to water collection and treatment to structural building designs.

A few years ago a travel agent challenged me to take my wife, Melvina, on a cruise vacation. It wasn’t at all what I expected! We had a wonderful time but I never imagined that I would come home feeling so serene, peaceful, and rejuvenated. Ever since that first trip, I’ve been hooked. Every other cruise I’ve taken has had the same effect; I always return feeling refreshed and full of new energy and vitality. This led me to become a cruise vacation travel consultant – I want everyone to have this therapeutic experience!

I’ve lived in Los Angeles with my wife and three children, Susan, Mumbie, and Sylvanus, for the last 15 years. Recently we decided that it was time for a change: we’re uprooting our lives on the West Coast and are settling in North Carolina.

Travelling is a favourite hobby of mine and I’ve visited some of the world’s most fascinating places including: Canada, Europe (including England), Liberia, the Caribbean Islands, and much of the United States. Along with travelling, I love learning about the history, food, and music of other cultures. This is good because I love being with people; I don’t know a stranger!

In my spare time I enjoy playing sports, especially soccer and tennis. I also enjoy a good game of chess and take on various self-improvement activities.
