Pricing for travel in Canada has reached all time lows; so much so that many of its residents are not only sitting up and taking notice, but taking advantage of the great deals that recession competition is inspiring. The term “yacation” is derived from the fact that Canadians say “yay, I can afford to take a vacation”.
With the best deals and offers being extended at this time in Canada, it is definitely a buyer’s market for travel. For those who make the decision to vacation close to home, great prices for hotels, restaurants and attractions are offering some of the lowest prices seen in years. The affordable options are exhibited in lower pricing, special promotions and discounts as well as incentives , such as “free nights” offers.
Vacations that take families out of the country are where the best deals can be found. This applies to hotels, charters and cruises. With hotel rooms staying vacant longer and cruise ships sailing at less than full occupancy, low paying guests are considered to be better than no guests at all. Caribbean and Mexican vacations are being snapped up at prices that are affordable to more than ever before. Alaskan cruises which sold at above average fares are now bargain deals, some of which that can be found as low as $100 per day per passenger.
According to the CEO of Thomas Cook Travel, many travel operators are offering deals at a loss. Obviously, that is a condition that must have an ending. Consumers will likely continue to see prices remain at bargain basement levels through the winter, as signs show little change in the economic status of the country in the immediate future.
Regardless of whether Canadian travelers enjoy staycations, yacations or out of country waycations, the deals that can be found right now are astounding. And understandably so; without the proper incentives, travel will be at a minimum. There is no lack of good deals in the travel market of Canada; a fact evident in the number of Canadians traveling in any ‘cation mode.
