Should I buy Travel Insurance from Cruise Lines?

Should I buy Travel Insurance from a sepatate insurance carrier or get it directly from the Cruise Line?

I was planning to go on a cruise trip and have found out the importance of having travel insurance for protection. Someone suggested Travelguard to me.

Is the recommendation to get insurance from Travelguard or other outside agency rather than the cruise lines, in this case, Princess?

All thoughts welcome. I'm sure there are pluses and minuses for both.

Buying Travel Insurance from Cruise Lines or outside Agency?

I always use Travelguard, unless it is quite a bit more then the cruise line, and that rarely happens. Travel guard offers more coverage. and does not charge for children.

The important thing you need to know is that for preexisting to be covered you need to buy the insurance within 15 day of the booking. They also have several plans to choose from and they will also cover the airfare.

Another reason to choose outside insurance is that a supplier's own insurance might not cover the business failure of the supplier itself.

I know that the Princess insurance is actually issued by a real insurance company, but some suppliers are self-insured which would be of no help to you if the supplier goes out of business.

I think you'd be okay with the cruiseline insurance from Princess, but TravelGuard offers better coverage at often a lower price.
