I’m back on the environment subject again; as you can tell it’s one of my family’s favorite causes! Anyway, we like to go on cruises, but it’s a guilty pleasure for us, knowing that cruise ships rate right up there among the big polluters. Now, I know I’ve asked already about environmentally friendly cruises, but how about eco friendly cruises? Not just saving energy, but actually saving the ecosystem by not polluting? Does anyone have information about eco friendly cruises and what steps they take to save our ecology? After all, the planet is in jeopardy and it’s up to us to save it while we are enjoying it.
eco friendly cruises
There are eco friendly cruises; ones that exert a little more control over carbon emissions and water pollution. Several cruise lines are recognizing how crucial this is to our earth, and taking steps to make cruising more eco friendly. One thing they are doing is extending stays at ports, which means less sailing time and less opportunity for emissions to cause damage. Most cruise lines are disposing of waste in a much friendlier manner now. Some are making changes on board like low-flow toilets and showers that use less water while performing the same service. Sustainable is a big word in eco friendly environments; using products that are sustainable means fewer and fewer things will become extinct or endangered. Garbage, wastewater both gray and black, and oil are the Eco friendly biggest concerns for cruise ship pollution. Because regulations for cruise ships are becoming more and more strict, just about all cruise lines are making changes. Don’t be shy; ask the cruise line what they are doing to protect the environment!
