As I am planning a cruise for my family, I’ve been looking at all of the choices available for us. I’ve seen something called a “luxury cruise”, which just sounds like it would be great for me! But is a luxury cruise a good choice for kids; are there even luxury cruises for families? Are kids welcome on a luxury cruise, or are they supposed to be for adults only? I wasn’t sure if it was just spas and pampering, with no activities or if it would be just like any other cruise for activities that we would all enjoy but also include the pampering I would love to have.
family luxury cruises, luxury family cruises
Many luxury cruises say children are “welcome”, but from what I’ve seen, most don’t have a great deal of activities that are targeted for that age group. There are a few, but mostly a luxury cruise concentrates their focus on just that: luxury. There is one in particular, though, that has added family friendly offerings in addition to their luxury: Regent. With four luxury small cruises, Regent cruise ships are now featuring Ambassadors of the Environment Youth Programs. This is really cool stuff. They target young kids and their families, introducing them to nature while teaching them about the environment and how to protect it in their everyday lives. It was created by Jean-Michael Cousteau, so you know it has some really interesting stuff. The passengers are learning about the wildlife and the environment while the cruise travels to Alaska, and then they get to take part in excursions exploring wilderness areas. Now that is one great luxury cruise for families!
