Cruise Ship Cancellation Policy

Okay, so along the same vein of thinking as the bad weather questions previously asked, how can you be sure of the cruise ship cancellation policy in different situations? Maybe not specifically due to weather, but what if something happens to one of your family members, requiring that you need to cancel the cruise you have booked? I’m not sure if there is complete assurance in all situations that you can get your money back. Of course, I know I can go to the cruise line, but how can you possibly think up all the different scenarios and ask “okay, but what about if this happens?”

Cancellation policy of cruise lines

I think each cruise line’s cancellation policy is probably a bit different. When your paperwork comes in, read it over right away; don’t wait until a week before the cruise. Check thoroughly what their cancellation policy is, what it covers and when it applies. No, you can’t possibly think of and ask about every single situation that could possibly happen, but there are more common circumstances like bad weather, medical emergencies, family emergencies and changes in ports. I would strongly recommend taking a look at travel insurance, if it is a real concern of yours. Travel insurance usually covers trip interruption and cancellation up to the amount of the cruise. A lot of people disregard travel insurance, but it just might be in your best interests to take a look at it.
