I’m booked to go on a great cruise to South America. Can anyone tell me do you have to have any inoculation to go on a cruise like this? If so, what types of shots will I need? Even if they are not required shots, are there any that I should consider anyway to protect my health? My cruise departs in February, so I’m not sure when I would need to get the inoculation if it’s needed. Do I just go to my own doctor, or is there a specific doctor that the cruise line wants you to use?
Do you have to have inoculation to go on cruise
Your cruise line should let you know if any inoculations are required, and how far in advance you should get them. You will be responsible for finding a doctor or clinic that is familiar with CDC recommendations. The website, www.cdc.gov/travel, is another good source to become more familiar yourself with what requirements are for different areas. I checked the website for you, and there are two South America categories; temperate and tropical. They have very clear instructions on what a traveler needs to do for inoculations, so I would strong recommend that you go to the site for your information. Then you can go to the doctor or clinic with some idea of what to expect. Good sailing!
