College Alumni Cruise on the Rhine

Wabash College, a liberal arts college for men, is offering a unique cruise experience to its alumni that will take place in July, 2009. On board the Ms Switzerland, they have the opportunity to take an 8 day, 7 night trip down the Rhine River.

The trip begins in Frankfort, Germany, where alumni will meet and enjoy a walking trip around the city. Then it’s off to Bonn, where the cruise ship, Ms Switzerland, will be boarded. The next stop is the Rhine Gorge. These stops will be filled with culture and history; visiting such sites as Beethoven’s home and taking in a private concert featuring his music as well as learning about Johannes Gutenberg. Heidelberg will be the next stop on the Rhine River cruise, with a highlight of touring a medieval castle and a Romanesque cathedral in Speyer.

France is not overlooked on this cultural cruise, where the Alsace region is a main feature. Old Strasburg, where the Cathedral of Notre Dame is located, is able to be explored and studied. The next day is devoted to wine enthusiasts as the excursion expands to the Route du Vin; an area not unlike the Napa Valley.

Traveling onward, Freiburg and the Southern Black Forest will be visited, with the conclusion of the Rhine River cruise.

Guided tours will be on the agenda throughout the cruise on the Ms Switzerland; providing thoughtful and provoking information at each stop as well as private lectures scattered throughout the cruise duration. Most of the meals are included in the fare, which begins at $2,995 per person.

The Ms Switzerland is a river cruiser, featuring only the best of accommodations. River views are available in all of the private cabins, or passengers can enjoy the scenery in the observation lounge where a piano bar and dance floor offer even more entertainment.
