Cooking and Cruising with Christine Pirello

Culinary and nutritionist expert, Christine Pirello, will be joining the sailing of Holland America’s ms Zuiderdam on an enrichment cruise to Alaska departing on August 8, 2009.

Chef Pirello will be sharing her tips, advice and knowledge of eating a healthy plant based diet with guests as an installment of Holland America’s enrichment program featuring expert chefs that began in 2005. The 2009 season promises to be an exciting one as Holland America teams up with “Food and Wine” magazine to bring over 60 renowned chefs and wine experts alike to their cruises.

Bringing her passion for basing diets around plant life is no small achievement for Chef Pirello, who learned her specific diet format on an intimate basis when she cured herself of leukemia at a young age of 26. The Emmy award winning TV personality is eager to share her findings of the correlation between looking and feeling younger as well as being healthier with a diet that prevents cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

Guests will recognize her efforts from her numerous books, including “Cooking the Whole Foods Way”, “Cook Your Way to the Life You Want” and “This Crazy Vegan Life.” Chef Pirello is also the hostess of two television shows currently running, “Christina Cooks!” and “Christina, Naturally.” This experience along with her extensive education background in food science and nutrition will be evident in her demonstrations, seminars and interactive Q&A sessions with guests.

The Vancouver, British Columbia cruise will tour through to Ketichan, Alaska; stopping at Tracy Arm, Juneau and Skagway, Alaska with Glacier Bay cruising, some of the most scenic of the area.
