No More Buffet Bulges on Princess Cruises

Some advisors tell their friends to lose weight before a cruise vacation, so that they will not experience the ‘horror’ of their gained weight when they depart the ship. Luckily, now with Princess Cruises, there is no need for such worries, as fitness options are readily available.

Princess Cruises has launched a new fitness program called Fitness@Sea, led by celebrity fitness guru Gillian Clark. Passengers may enjoy activities tailored towards core strengthening, arm and leg strengthening, flexibility, muscle strengthening, total body workouts, cardio training, stretching, mind/body connection, breathing and back strengthening.
Classes involve yoga, cardio, and many other genres of sports and fitness. The equipment on board now includes not only gym but also a mew Lotus Spa, where the classes are held.

Programs include Yoga for Kids and Teens, Core.Balance.Strength – involving breathing, cardio, yoga and other exercises, Core absessions, Balance meditation exercises, Strength conditioning with classes such as Tour de Spin, inspired by Lance Armstrong.
"People who cruise today are younger and more active. Cruises cater to them with light cuisine, spas that rival anything on land and gyms that probably beat the one you go to at home," says Bob Sharak, executive director of Cruise Lines International Association.

For beginners in fitness there are easier classes on the Princess Cruises such as Step to My Groove, which involves light, easy step aerobics. Many other classes are available such as Chillax – winding down from the grind, and Lotus Tai Chi, great for all ages, yet especially suitable for elderly as it is low-intensity.

Wii Fit is also available onboard with not only the balance games, but also Ski Jump, Hula Hoop, and soccer games.
The fitness program onboard is a great opportunity for passengers to either maintain their current fitness regimes onboard or be introduced to new workouts they have never tried before.

Princess Cruises is matching the growing needs of health-conscious travellers, as reports have shown that the average weight gain on cruise holidays is 8 lbs.
Other popular cruise liners with fitness programs include Royal Caribbean International and Windstar Cruises.
