The Caribbean Islands - Which one do I choose?

Ahh, the Caribbean Islands! They boast spectacular scenery, crystal clear turquoise waters, powder white sands, tropical breeze and glorious blue sky. The Caribbean is an exquisite romantic escape for the soul.

The Caribbean consists of over 5,000 plus islands, reefs and cays that form a chain enclosing the Caribbean Sea. High season for cruising to these islands is December to April. August, September and October are hurricane season. Don't fear because due to ships' advanced technology, you will not get caught in a hurricane at sea. The worst that may happen is a change in port.

Not all Caribbean Islands are created equal though. The terrain differs from region to region. With all these islands which one is best?  Of course all Islands are blessed with breathtaking scenery and glorious beaches and don't forget shopping! There are the Eastern, Western and Southern Islands each enticing visitors with their unique and fascinating qualities. The Western and Eastern are the most popular of the three. Popular cruise lines visit all of the regions therefore you will have no trouble finding a cruise vacation to fit your preference.

The Eastern Islands of the Caribbean are St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. Martin, St. Maarten, Virgin Gorda, St. John, Puerto Rico, Tortola, Casa de Campo and The British Islands: Jost Van Kyke, Peter Island and Marina Cay. Bahamas is normally included in this category though not technically a Caribbean island. The Eastern Islands are closer together than the Western or Southern Islands therefore more time is spent on land. These Islands are famous for their water activities (snorkeling, parasailing, swimming, boating, diving etc) and of course beautiful beaches. If you visit St. Thomas don't forget to check out the underwater observatory at Coral World Marine Park.

The Western Islands of the Caribbean comprises of Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Jamaica, Ocho Rios, Belize, Costa Rica, Playa Del Carmen, Mexico and Honduras. Cruise lines do not stop at all the Islands of course so check the ship's itinerary before booking. The western islands are famous for their lush rainforest, exotic waterfalls and archaic ruins. The islands are further apart so there is more time sailing and less time spent on land.

The southern Islands are Antigua, Aruba, Barbados, Curacao, Grenada, Martinique, St Lucia and Trinidad. These islands have a mixture of Western and Eastern qualities. They proudly deliver beautiful beaches, lustrous rainforests and volcanoes.

To answer the question which island is best? All of them! Whether you want a quiet relaxing vacation or exciting energetic time, the islands deliver. So, which Island are you going to visit on your next cruise? Come back and tell us about it and what you like most about your island.
