Especially for those who have never cruised before, curiosity about what happens during the cruise experience is a common feeling. It would be nice to have a glimpse of day to day life on board the ship; a scenario possible by reading blogs of those already on a ship and providing daily reports.
Haven’t we all said we would like to be a fly on a wall, enabling us to watch activities and events occurring without being seen? That is exactly what anyone can do when reading continually updated blogs and reports by those who are sailing on a cruise ship, such as the Disney cruise ship, the Wonder. When the traveler is a repeat cruiser, an additional benefit of reading about their adventures is to benefit from tips and hints they can supply from experience.
For example, before even boarding the ship, the seasoned cruisers share that most of the required check-in paperwork can be done online, shortening wait time in sometimes lengthy lines at the port. Tips such as taking a town car to the port when traveling in groups can be cheaper, easier and more personal than taking the Disney bus and making sure to arrive early at the port to get on board at the front of the line are offered. Also, they advise packing a carry-on “day bag”, in which your swimsuit and other sundries can be carried on board; since you will have the benefit of boarding early, you can lounge at the pool while others are still boarding. Or you can have a leisurely lunch while waiting to get into your stateroom; usually an hour or so after boarding.
These repeat cruisers also let us know not to panic if you arrive at the port late. While parking and traffic may be more intense, often the boarding by number procedure is finished by this time and after checking in, you can just go ahead and board. Take care not to arrive too late, though!
Following along as the cruise ship leaves port and sails toward the designated ports, you will be able to virtually travel along with the blogger, as they detail their experiences. By doing so, you have the advantage of living life on a cruise ship through the actual passenger, and get an idea of what to expect when you take your first cruise.
