Port Honored for Excellence

An annual award that is bestowed upon the highest rated turnaround port has this year been given to World Cruise Center at the Port of Los Angeles by Princess Cruise passengers.

In the fourth annual installment of the award, this honor recognizes those ports which have excelled in service, facilities and personnel in assisting passengers during embarkation or disembarkation. A turnaround port is defined as one where one cruise ends and the next one begins, and is open to any of the 33 ports across the globe utilized by Princess Cruises.

Passengers themselves do the voting; rating the port’s performances based on their own personal experiences. Extending from December of 2007 to December of 2008, satisfaction ratings were accumulated and measured to determine the port’s total votes. Because Princess Cruises realizes that customer impressions are derived from their experiences at the port either in embarking or disembarking the cruise ship, they strive to reward those ports that go above expectations to provide a positive impression on those guests. It is through these impressions that repeat cruising patterns with guests are developed.

Previous ports that have received this honor are Whittier, Vancouver and Brooklyn. Two Princess cruise ships call the Port of Los Angeles home; the Sapphire Princess focusing on the Mexican Riviera and the Golden Princess which travels to Hawaii. The Coral Princess turns at the Los Angles port also during Panama Canal cruises.

To receive distinction for the highest customer satisfaction ratings in a year is no small achievement. During the 61 calls at the port by Princess cruise ships, most passengers were positively impacted by their experiences in Los Angeles; a real tribute to all of the men and women at the location who make every effort to create a great environment for these passengers.
